Current Characters: Mami Tomoe, EVA-Beatrice, Kirika Kure, Reiko Natsume
Character: Lilith Zaberisk
Fandom: Animamundi: Dark Alchemist
History: A summary of the visual novel is here. Most of the walkthrough can be skipped but the "Chapter Summary" section has the basics of what happen.
Personality:
Lilith is young girl of nobility and daughter of the famed physician with alchemist leanings, Count Wolfgang Zaberisk. Both the count and his wife died when Lilith was very young. This had a profound effect on the girl, making being alone almost unbearable.
As the last link to her family and being her beloved older brother, Georik, is the most important person in Lilith's life--even more than her fiance (not that she'd say so, of course). She's willing to give up her very soul to keep him alive and well...something Georik would eventually do for her. Despite their closeness, Lilith makes a point of teasing him and gets upset when he declines to play with her. She has a spoiled streak in her so its not unusual for her to pout or sulk when Georik or anyone else doesn't indulge her.
She's a rather carefree and optimistic girl. Lilith always believes the best will happen. She will marry St. Germant, Georik will cure her, and so forth. In fact, soon after her own execution Lilith seems quite unaffected mentally by the ordeal--insisting that Georik "at least let her sniff the wine" from the inn if she can't be seen in her beheaded state. Even the deeds that Georik does on the behalf of curing her seems not to bother her.
Though, eventually, time and the deeds that both of them have done wear down her optimism. The fact that Georik murdered an entire village in her name while she couldn't do anything to stop him, how we would used the bodies of the dead to recreate a body, that she's trapped in a room unable to even get up from her bead... Even her optimism couldn't sustain her. She grew depressed that she couldn't leave the cellar and that Georik would only visit her so he could feed give Lilith her needed transfusions. This depression rarely shows itself but it's often relieved by Georik spending time with her.
However, there's a bit of a contradiction. Lilith sometimes outright opposes Georik's violent actions--scolding him once she saw he had blood on his sword--while making her own threats. Soon after she scolds Georik for the bloodied sword she wishes out loud that she could have revenge on "those who murdered our parents" even though there wasn't any proof they were murdered. When Georik told her that there was war in the streets, what was Lilith's reaction? "Oh...I guess I won't be able to go to Princess Sylvie's tea parties now."
What does this mean? Lilith is more focused on the events affecting the people she cares about directly. She doesn't approve of violence but she doesn't seem overly concerned about it if its not affecting her personal circle. Is Georik safe? Is her fiance, St. Germant, safe? Then, well. It's not the best situation but there's nothing she can do about it. Best not dwell on it that much.
The last thing I should talk about is Lilith's deal with Mephistopheles and her behavior because of it. Lilith made the deal because she couldn't deal with the loneliness. The idea of her beloved brother not being there was beyond what she could imagine. So, of course, she'd sacrifice her soul, her life, her anything, if that meant Georik would be by her side still. She never tells him about it nor of her witchcraft due to her fear that he'd be angry and cast her out. So she keeps it a secret, not even acting in surprise at the events that follow her execution. (The fact that she was still alive, that is, the execution itself was a surprise.)
